Aligning with your personal goals for therapy

Amber is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).  She holds a Master of Counselling (MC) degree from City University of Seattle and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MA) from Regent College in Vancouver.

As founder of Align Counselling Vancouver, Amber's professional counselling experience includes the University of British Columbia, Quest University and The Adler Centre.

In addition to being a Clinical Counsellor, Amber was a university pastor for seven years at the University of British Columbia.  This role exposed her to the myriad ways that spirituality is expressed and lived out.  Amber also personally experienced compassion fatigue and burnout leading to healing from her own spiritual frustrations and deep desire to help others work through professional burnout.

In her role as Spiritual Counsellor, Amber works with those who want to explore or expand their own spiritual beliefs. There are times in our lives when we wrestle with the most profound questions in life related to meaning, purpose and God.  You may be conflicted or confused about your current belief system, doubting the faith that you have been taught your whole life, or perhaps you are wanting to explore and figure out what you believe.

Through her own spiritual journey, Amber has learned to approach the faith journey of others with an open-mind and an open heart.  She is committed to creating a safe, non-judgemental and sacred space so that spiritual concerns can be expressed and explored, resulting in deeper awareness of oneself and ones beliefs.  Her hope is that through processing spiritual doubts, questions and trauma - that you will be able to truly live out the freedom of finding the truth that resonates deeply for you.

Amber doesn't counsel from a denomination or religious affiliation, but from a place that allows for doubt, questioning and shift in perspectives.  She sees spirituality as a searching process that can evolve and deepen over a lifetime.

Amber's theological background makes her especially effective in working with pastors, religious leaders, and people in helping professions.  Her practice includes mindfulness tools, body-based awareness, breath work, solution-focused questioning and Adlerian psychology principles.

Amber's counselling practice is open to people of all ages, race, sexuality and ability.  You will find her most helpful as a counsellor if you want to develop deeper self-awareness and see lasting positive change in your life.
